The Open Economy Professional Committee of Chinese Association of Quantitative Economics abbreviated as Open Economy Professional Committee or OEPC, was established in 2022. Under the leadership of the Communist Party of China, it is a nationwide, academic, voluntary, and non-profit social organization composed of scholars, researchers, and institutions engaged in theoretical and empirical research on open economy issues. As a non-legal-entity branch of the China Society for Quantitative Economics, the Committee operates under the professional guidance and supervision of the China Society for Quantitative Economics, its principal supervisory body—the Institute of Quantitative and Technical Economics at the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences—and its registration authority—the Bureau of Scientific Research Management of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences.
The Open Economy Professional Committee focuses on the interconnection between China’s domestic economy and international markets, and on mechanisms for integrating China’s Belt and Road Initiative into the global economic system. It emphasizes leveraging China’s comparative economic advantages, promoting innovative foreign investment and the “Going Global” strategy, and developing new models for sustainable open-economy development. The Committee is committed to optimizing China’s regional layout for opening-up, expanding new frontiers for international economic cooperation, building a secure and resilient open economic system, and fostering a fair, transparent, stable, and predictable business environment. It also prioritizes strengthening institutional safeguards for an open economy, advancing integrated land-sea development and high-quality economic growth, enhancing economic circulation efficiency, supporting the “Maritime Power” strategy, jointly building a maritime community with a shared future, actively participating in global climate and environmental governance, and striving to achieve carbon peak and carbon neutrality goals. Through these efforts, the Committee promotes high-quality development of the open economy that is innovative, coordinated, green, and inclusive.
Currently, the Open Economy Professional Committee has over 100 individual members and more than 50 institutional members.
The Secretariat of the Open Economy Professional Committee is housed at the Institute of Marine Economy and Management, Shandong University of Finance and Economics (Yanshan Campus).
