The interdisciplinary and inter-university research team in "Marine Economics and Management" is guided by "major initiatives, innovative teams, and international cooperation," with the goals of achieving "originality, leadership, and forward-thinking." Its mission is to forge a first-class innovative team, develop landmark research outcomes, and establish a leading academic discipline. By strengthening interdisciplinary collaboration, driving breakthroughs in original research, and focusing on developing significant landmark achievements with substantial academic innovation value, the team serves the Party, the state, and the flourishing development of philosophy and social sciences.
The team leverages platforms such as the Marine Economic Blue Book, Major Projects of the National Social Science Fund, the international journal Marine Economics and Management, and the Open Economy Committee of the Chinese Society of Quantitative Economics. With advisors including academicians from the Chinese Academy of Engineering and the Canadian Academy of Engineering, and led by a national "Ten Thousand Talents Plan" leading talent, the team has assembled a nationwide interdisciplinary and inter-university high-level research group of over 100 scholars in "Marine Economics and Open Economy."
Team members consist of experts and scholars from institutions such as the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, the Academy of International Trade and Economic Cooperation under the Ministry of Commerce, the Ministry of Natural Resources, Wuhan University, Peking University Shenzhen Graduate School, National University of Defense Technology, Beijing Normal University, Central University of Finance and Economics, Sun Yat-sen University, Shandong University, Ocean University of China, Nanjing University of Science and Technology, Nanjing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics, China University of Petroleum, Beijing University of Technology, Hainan University, Guangxi University, Zhejiang University of Finance and Economics, Zhejiang Ocean University, Guangdong Ocean University, Shanghai Ocean University, Liaoning Normal University, Shandong Normal University, Qingdao University, and Shandong University of Finance and Economics. Additionally, the team appoints distinguished experts and scholars from domestic and international marine-focused universities and research institutions as specially appointed professors, establishing long-term academic exchanges and collaborative relationships with experts from research institutions, relevant national ministries, and local governments. In collaboration with Ocean University of China and a Canadian Academy of Engineering academician, the team has also formed the Ministry of Education's "Overseas Distinguished Professor" (2018–2022) teaching and research team.
