The Institute of Marine Economy and Management at Shandong University of Finance and Economics is a university-affiliated research institute established in response to major national strategic needs such as “Maritime Power” and “Integrated Land-Sea Development,” in collaboration with domestic and international research partners. The Institute has built a comprehensive talent cultivation system spanning master’s, doctoral, and postdoctoral levels.

Since 2020, under the first-level doctoral programs in Applied Economics and Management Science and Engineering, the Institute has established specialized master’s and doctoral enrollment tracks in “Marine Economy and Management” and “Marine Economic Systems Engineering.” To date, it has enrolled a total of 14 doctoral students and 12 master’s students. Additionally, a “Marine Economy and Management” research track has been set up within the Postdoctoral Research Station in Applied Economics, and the Institute has trained a total of 6 postdoctoral researchers—2 have completed their tenure (exited the station), and 4 are currently in residence.

Since its establishment, the Institute has received strong attention and support from the Shandong Provincial Party Committee and Provincial Government. On September 9, 2022, June 17, 2024, and November 26, 2024, provincial leaders successively led delegations to visit and inspect the Institute of Marine Economy and Management. They highly commended the Institute’s achievements and provided guidance on its future development.
